From South East Arkansas to South Africa, from the Arkansas-Mississippi Delta to the East Coast, from the pulpit to the community, Dr. Precilla L. Belin is known for transforming lives and strengthening communities. She is a dynamic speaker, outstanding professor, inspirational chaplain, well respected academic and spiritual mentor, and a highly skilled public health scientist. She specializes in local, state, and national initiatives that utilize Community-Based Participatory Research Principles and Community Outreach and Engagement. She is a passionate Breast Cancer Survivor-Thriver who is an advocate for cancer research and education, access to care, and programs that target health disparities.

The 2020 National Public Health and Faith Symposium will be a dynamic convergence of trans-disciplinary, multi-generational change agents, clergy, leaders, laypersons, and learners who will participate in a unique experience involving impactful, educational and informative sessions and networking! The National Symposium will provide a framework that will train, equip, empower, and mobilize for healthier people and healthier communities.

The 2020 National Public Health and Faith Symposium Objectives (PHFS) are to:

• Bring two worlds together- The PHFS will provide a platform for Professionals, Clergy, Laypersons, and Students from various backgrounds and different types of Academic Institutions, Faith-Based Institutions, and Community-Based Organizations to build a culture that fosters relationships, trust, and respect across participants.

• Examine the relationship between faith and healing- The PHFS will look at how faith impacts health. For many, faith is a very important factor that is utilized in maintaining physical and mental health. It is also incorporated in daily living which contributes to the overall well-being of an induvial. Acknowledging the importance of faith, this Symposium will attempt to help bridge the gap between faith and the healing process.

• Explore mental health and wellness- The PHFS will provide an opportunity for Public Health Practitioners and Pastors to form a sustainable partnership to help address the mental health of those in the church and in the community. The partnership will establish the need to examine the importance of Mental Health at every stage of life.

• Create a new paradigm- The PHFS will create a new paradigm between Public Health and Faith communities that collectively coordinates resources and expertise to ultimately design and implement initiatives that achieve social change with a priority placed on equity.

• Cultivate and train- The PHFS will be an electrifying atmosphere conducive for cultivating and training the next generation of leaders with unique system thinking skills to co-create strategies with cross-sector strategic purpose partners.

• Showcase the work and aspirations of young scholars- The PHFS will showcase the research of young scholars (school-aged, to undergraduate, to graduate students) from various academic institutions and organizations who aspire to become advocates, educators, faith-based leaders, clinicians, and researchers
